BrokenA Poem by Leviathus Fortes
Her brother watches
As she sleeps with other men And yet she doesn't mind An ex prostitute Once addicted to cocaine Sleeping with her stepfather A hardcore alcoholic Playing make believe She is trapped in her own mind A pathological liar The victim of rape Or so she claims A single mother, bipolar Who conceived as a teenager Afraid of commitment So insecure She hides her true self behind the mask Fearing to show her intelligence Seeking adoration from all She plays her games Expecting her body to get her whatever she wants She likes fun and she's creative She runs after you Just so she can ask your name She asks that you would touch her After you do she pulls away Then she asks this of you again She hates you because she loves you And that's as far as she will go She acts tough around her friends She has an odd infatuation And her eyes are fixed on you She's in love with chivalry She spends her time with you Then turns to her own devices Her attention fading in and out Sweet yet so deceitful She hides there in plain sight You won't see it coming till after she's already gone I give my love so unconditionally And yet I stand alone Feeling I was used Ghosts of the past torment me I see all of these women here Why bring the broken ones to me © 2015 Leviathus FortesReviews
