What You Could Have SaidA Poem by Leviathus Fortes
I'm the only one you did not tell
A secret you did keep from me Was I so unimportant What of all the time we spent Hand in hand, together Connected at the hip Gazing into each other's eyes What was that all about I recall early moments The times you'd pulled away Only to cling closer Then flake out once more Were you merely scheming Playing games with me Or were your feelings true Yet we're afraid to admit How many times can I count And still give away chance This tug of war on my heart Had to end eventually Were you just using me emotionally Or was there something more Yes, of course I love you Did you ever love me Words would not be spoken At least, they weren't to me Silent until needing Then you would come forth Not in the way that most do Your not shy, no introvert Was I just your last resort When others would refuse I walked away from abuse I vowed never to look back Still, I question what you thought of me In all of the time we shared You think that it was easy That last look that I gave you It would be the last that I would have But I had to let you go Wishing for a stolen kiss The day I walked away Not a single spoken word You could have said...goodbye © 2015 Leviathus FortesFeatured Review
