Witchy Poo & Doggie Do

Witchy Poo & Doggie Do

A Story by Leviathus Fortes
"

A witch with a dog as a familiar

"
When one thinks of a familiar
They think of a black cat
That's become the staple, over time
Perhaps even a bat

Sometimes there is a toad
Sometimes there's an owl
But this type of familiar
Was the kind that could howl

Doggie was a familiar
Quite unusual, it seemed
To see a Witch out with a dog
On such a night as Halloween

Witchy Poo was her name
The smallest of the brood
And compared to all other witches
She was the happiest in mood

Witchy Poo made preparations
Before she exited her bedroom door
But part of her outfit had gone missing
It had all been sitting here before

Her hat, where had it gone to
Of that, she was unsure
Yet an idea came across her mind
As she glanced toward the floor

Doggie, her companion
With a nose so well in tune
Could help her find this missing item
For it was covered in perfume

Witchy Poo thought up a spell
Waving her hands all through the air
It has to be here someplace
It has to be, but where

Witchy Poo opened her mouth
Out had come a spell
One that she had conjured up
And it would work so very well

Ears raised, Doggie was now alert
As he listened to each and ever word
She spoke her incantation
This is what he heard

Eye of newt and serpentine
Mixed inside a bowl
Bring to me, what I desire
Make me to be whole

A loyal pet, a guardian
Do not let him fail
This Doggie here before me
Put him under this spell

Doggie, you shall do a task
So listen to me croon
Find this thing that I have want of
And find it very soon

Doggie do this
Doggie do that
Doggie go fetch....
The Witch's hat!!

Doggie darted out the door
Leaving nothing but a blur
She had given him a task
He would find this thing for her

Doggie rushed back into the room
The Witches hat he'd found
Then a head poked through the door
And with it came a sound

You left it laying on floor
I picked it up and wiped it down
But no Witch can be complete
With no hat and just a gown

Doggie came and took it
I left it sitting in the chair
Let's get your outfit finished
I'll place on your head, right there

Are you ready for your big night
Your first outing must be fun
Come on, we must get started
We've a long way to go until we're done

So she grabbed her mother's hand
As most little witches do
And they were on their way
Taking with them, Doggie too

Down the street they traveled
Then down a little more
Walking from house to house
Knocking at each door

Witchy Poo always just stood there
With Doggie by her side
A Witch and her familiar
And a smile she could not hide

Beasts and ghosts and goblins
Vampires and a ghoul
All of them she recognized
She had known them all from school

Everyone was out tonight
Every single friend
On this night of pure excitement
That none wished to ever end

But alas, it had grown darker
And it was nearing time for bed
Witchy Poo and Doggie too
Would be tucked away when fed

So they all headed home
After dinner, had a snack
Then layed down to dream
Halloween, please hurry back!!
