Emotion Less (Gone, but not Forgotten)

Emotion Less (Gone, but not Forgotten)

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

I go back to all those memories
All the times that we had shared
Was it ever a relationship
Or just an emotional affair

Spending so much time together
Inseparable were we
When in each other's presence
Remarked on how we both felt free

You turned one day to look at me
A sadness in your gaze
I rewind back to that moment
And the half-smile upon your face

It was like the look you give somebody
A special person you will miss
What was going through your head
I will always ponder this

Your absence here is truly felt
To my heart, I held you near
Even if you walked out of the door
And just left me standing here

Not even giving a goodbye
No words to me you'd speak
Closure never happened
That's the part that cut so deep

I had given you my everything
You would not give in return
A lesson for me, perhaps
Something I had yet to learn

Our end, unsatisfactory
I'll keep you with me for all time
Sit and cope and then to channel
All my feelings into rhyme

I love you and I always will
Sometimes I wonder if you cared
Was it ever a relationship
Or just an emotional affair
