You Again

You Again

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

Nightmares though I am wide awake
Why torment me so

Have you nothing better to do
Release me from this state of mind

I'm asking just to have one day
Where a happiness is felt

I will not sit inside this misery
I do not enjoy the pain

You come from me, you always did
Yet I can't keep control

Why do you insist on pushing
Do you expect of me defeat

As much as I am hurting
You just keep adding on

I won't walk this road with you
I'm not here to be your slave

Stop fighting, let's be friends
If you understand that word

Just some time I need, to myself
To relax and to unwind

I'll have a daydream, for a moment
To place my mind at ease

Can you spare of this one thing
Or is it too much to ask

I'll be gone and you'll still be here
I doubt you're going anywhere

I will return and when I do
I'll let you have your way

This helps to build me stronger
Each time that I must deal

Enjoy this game you're playing
But all games must reach an end

So be proud of what you're doing
And one day you'll realize

When I'm stronger than I've ever been
I'll put you away

I'll be gone and you'll still be here
I doubt you're going anywhere

When I'm stronger than I've ever been
I'll put you away
to me the above lines are the core and the heart of the poem. Why do we leave and our tormentors get to stay where they are. Why does it take so long for us to get the strength to walk away in the first place? Familiarity breeds contempt? I am also thinking of that bible scripture.

As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly. Proverbs 26:1 which I feel is applicable here. The rest of the poem you weaved around the stanzas I mentioned. very good job

I'm not sure why, but this made me think of mental illnesses. Such as depression, and how it returns and drags us down when all we want is to be free.

I could be completely wrong, but oh well, haha. Write on!

My favorite lines:
Stop fighting, let's be friends
If you understand that word

Just some time I need, to myself
To relax and to unwind
Thats so true for so many people.
Love this poem, great piece of work.
