CompassA Poem by Leviathus Fortes
I had a moral compass
But it was lost throughout the years So I became quite different Than who I used be I walked around, so many times As part of the crowd Yet I knew I did not fit in I was feeling lost Was there something wrong with me It was as if I were alone What to do, I was so puzzled Fear enraptured me There was misery, yet safety Inside my comfort zone I was standing, just observing Things became so clear Along came a different point of view Unlike the ones I've had before I saw deceit, manipulation And those who would need help I stood for what they couldn't Each one, so unprepared Seeking guidance, seeking heart And I kept by their side Connections made, emotions Masks removed and true selves shared All together, we united They found the strength that they did need Time passed and we grew stronger Decisions, they were made But alas, we'd go our separate ways Spread our wings and fly We all wanted out of there That place was toxic, it was vile So we all sought a new future And each did take their leave Walking out the door Vowing not to come back at all We would end this by our own hands And let that place burn to the ground Perhaps one day we'll meet up And connect, as we once did But if not, just count our blessings Keeping each other in our hearts Memories we build ourselves upon Future wisdom we'll instill To help another, lift them up I've found my compass once again © 2015 Leviathus FortesReviews
