Open Up

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

Why is it she won't talk to me
Why is she so afraid
I listen to all of her things
Is this is how I'm repaid

Like a little lost puppy
She'd follow me around
Now and then, ever so softly
Letting out a sound

I showed to her, attention
Is my ranting so absurd
She's the one who clung to me
But barely utters any words

We'd make plans together
And she'd flake, just like before
You get three times, only three
And then you get no more

I'm patient, I give chances
But you will come to know
I won't let you mistreat me
And away, I swear, I'll go

We don't hang out together
Yet you stand here and call me friend
I'm calling you out
It's time that this has reached an end

I tried to chalk it up to shyness
But I've seen how you engage
With others, who are not me
This chapter's done, I turn the page

Open up, I need a reason
Give me one to make me stay
Only one, that's all I'm asking
Open Up or walk away
