An Illusion

An Illusion

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

The puzzle pieces do not fit
My mind keeps going, will not quit

Life's a prison, can it be
Find the door and turn the key

But of the door, its hidden where
Neither here and neither there

An illusion only of my mind
No clear answers paid in kind

Allow myself to slip away
What reveals another day

Time moves on, but still I go
Somewhere else, I do not know

Answers are away from me
Will I ever be set free

All this while I ponder on
Am I here, or am I gone

My mind reflects, backward still
Of wonder, I do take my fill

Empty do I feel inside
Forever thirsty, cannot hide

If only truth would be revealed
My mind could rest, my heart be healed
