Linen

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

Some people would say that Yoko Ono
Was the worst thing to happen to the Beatles
Because many feel that she broke up the group

I have conflicting thoughts
About these statements all the time
But I'm not here to talk about the Beatles

This is about what that woman did
To change his perspective of the world
And what he gave back to us

We hold in our hands
One of the greatest pieces of music
To have ever existed

Regardless of your belief structure
The background that you come from
The words he speaks are universal

Imagine

A most beautiful word indeed
How would the world be
If this piece never existed

If John Lennon had never been born

Sometimes when I feel that it's all too much
I put on this song
And it brings me back

I realize I'm serving a purpose
One I do not run from
One that I am going to do

Most people don't believe in world peace
That it's a pipe dream
We can never achieve

One person can change the world

Do good and good will happen
Do bad and bad will happen
To remind you to do good

A kind act, a true one
Can touch a person's heart
Breathe new life into their soul

Because you're showing that they matter
And they will always pay that forward
People come in and out of our lives at all times

Can we as a person help to better the world

All it takes is one of us
To help, to light the way
That can build a legend

And a legend will inspire
Inspiration is the key
The first step to a better world

Some may call it dreaming

An idealist concept
But they are those who gave up on their dream
Bowed their heads and became sheep

A black sheep is the best thing
A person you should be glad to know
They will accomplish what can't be fathomed

And give all around them a new hope
Inspiration comes from everything
It can also come from you

Be inspired by those around you
You'll find we need each other
So much more than we think

So imagine if you will

That those words, that song
Do not exist
Grace and comfort taken away

The blanket gone
No more linen to wrap up in
That's not a world in which I want

To live

I am a black sheep in color and actions. Imagine knowing that purpose as a negative and a positive Imagine what my life is...didn't until now when I read this poem. Can't Imagine what I was doing or how I was living before I read this

Not only is this a wonderful tribute to the genius of John Lennon, but it is a stunning and fitting tribute to a song that holds so much meaning for so many. I love how you included lines from John Lennon's verse - showing the power of his simple words.
Some may call it dreaming...
Yes, perhaps it is a dream, but it's a dream that warms my heart as I know it does yours and so many others.
