There's an ElephantA Story by Leviathus Fortes
There's an elephant in the room
It's plain for all to see We tiptoe around the elephant And simply let it be We try not to disturb it For it is always there The elephant's not leaving Of is that we're all aware We walk past it each and every day Hoping it will go There's something it is telling us Something it feels that it must show There's a feeling inside each of us That will not go away Be it our guilt or our remorse That's why the elephant has stayed Do we remove it systematically Or simply ask it to take leave An elephant's just not that simple At least, that's what I believe You have to see its point of view To understand its mind Maybe its hurt, or it was hurt by you That's the answer you must find How is it that an elephant Can be here from day to day Maybe it resents something you did to it Something you took away Perhaps it's there as a reminder Serving as a clue So you'll reflect and be enlightened And search the inner you An elephant's not easy Of that I can ensure It's a problem you must deal with And simply can't ignore © 2015 Leviathus Fortes |
