Cowbell

Cowbell

A Story by Leviathus Fortes

Once upon a barn ago...

A calf was being born
Everyone became quite concerned
For it did not make a sound

She did not moo, but as she grew
She kept searching for her voice

So the farmer took a bell
And tied it around her neck
So everyone could hear her coming

One dreary, dark and rainy night
As baby chicks were being born
A crew was scouting out the farm

Coyotes, they were hungry
Looking for a late night snack

All on the farm were sleeping
Yet one animal was not

She had spotted the coyotes coming
And ran around, all over the farm

Clanging her bell, so all would know
But the rain drown out the sound

She shook and shook and shook some more
But it was all for naught

The coyotes were now near the hen house
In a few moments they would snack

What was she to do?

She mustered up her courage
And opened up her mouth

The loudest sound came out of it
She finally found her moo

This awoke the farmer
Who came running out

With pitchfork in hand
He chased the coyotes off the farm

The next morning when all did awake
The farmer told her tale

The entire farm had thanked her
This warmed her up inside

And even though she found her moo
She still wears her bell with pride

We all need to find our moo and it's good if we have the confidence to keep our bell. Well done Leviathus. 8-)
