Voice

Voice

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

We were built on an assembly line

At least that’s what they think

Expendable at the first chance

But they never knew of me

I am not one to stand still

And my voice, you’ll hear it sound

Silent, I think not

I’m not a mindless drone

So tell me of another "truth"

I can catch you in your own web

Did you not think I’d step forward

And help those who were in need

I am fond of rollercoaters

And I can take a hit

Give me more, I know you want to

But you cannot have my soul

Fail on your own, I am done with you

But wish you well, I always will

Do your worst, but don’t include me

Into your sordid affairs

I’ve chipped away at your wall

Soon all will be revealed

No more lies or contradictions

Your masks are slowly cracking apart

What stories will you tell of me

Now that I’m no longer there

I cannot defend myself if I’m not present

What a very clever plan

Yet I have rendered your words meaningless

For my story, I have already told

Time to get caught in your lies

You can no longer hide behinds fake smiles
