Ladybug

A Poem by Leviathus Fortes

She told me of a ladybug
That crawled across a leaf
And of the thing that she had found
Hidden underneath

Something she had covered up
So her sister would not see
To protect her heart? That, I don't know
From a harsh reality?

A creature that was on the ground
A frog, that's what she said
A creature there, amongst the leaves
A frog lying there dead

Does her sister like frogs?
She explained not this to me
Something she had covered up
So her sister would not see
