End of the World

A Story by Poppletron
"

Day 9 Prompt: “I promise I had a good reason to kidnap you…”

"
“I promise I had a good reason to kidnap you…” However, the more I thought about it the more I realized how crazy I probably was.
"Well, how 'bout you start explaining then." She demands from the passenger seat.
"I will, do that... later though." I reply.
"Why not now?" Greg asks from behind.
"Not now Greg."
"But, I thought you said that-"
"I said not now. Besides, I don't think that now would be the best time have this conversation."
"Why, are you high or something?"
"No that would be you, which I really don't appreciate."
"You said it would be fine."
"What, why would I ever say that?"
"I don't know man."
"Why do you do this to yourself and me by association? You know what just shut up and let me drive in peace."
"I think that you're just afraid to tell her."
"Tell me what?" She asks.
"If you don't tell her, I will."
"Fine... just give a moment to gather my thoughts." We drive in silence for several minutes before I can even start putting words together. "Um, uh... Have you noticed weird things happening lately?"
"I don't know what that has to do with anything." She states.
"Please, just answer the question."
"I guess."
"Well, we put together some data and uh to put things quite simply... The World is Ending."
"Just because it's 'the End of the World' doesn't mean you kidnap me so you can-" She begins.
"Oh, gosh no... you're very pretty don't get me wrong, but that's not why you're here. I brought you along on our little trip because I thought that you could help us."
"Help you with what?"
"Help us to save the world."
"Save the World?"
"Yes."
"But, why me?"
"I think you might already know the answer to that..."
