Sobriety

Sobriety

A Poem by Lestat de Lioncourt

These pills, they're keeping me sane.
When all I want to do is feel pain.

Pain is good don't think me a sadist,
it makes the mind reel like an old projector,
projecting it's contents on a screen
for all to see.
That's what's missing in me.

So I sit here lapping it up like a thirsty dog,
wondering when I can roam free like a wild hog.
It'll come sooner or later but I can
already taste the matter that makes me chatter.

A mouthful would restore me to that old theatre,
Lighting up a dark room filled with many actors.

Lestat de Lioncourt
I'm sober now, and it's a long, tough slog through thick mud.
