For Love of Money

For Love of Money

A Poem by Lestat de Lioncourt

Money is freedom they say,
I don't agree.

To be truly free,
is to be an outsider
to society.

with all it's norms and practices,
aren't we the fools?
or those who "practice" less?

we chase and fight,
for god given rite.
not worth the pain and plight.

it takes more that success to clean one's slate,
"success" determines your fate.

Leave it behind
and cherish the little.
For when we die,
all we take is a skittle.

was it worth the stress?
pain and duress?

or was it simplicity that set you free?
