The PoliticianA Poem by Polly LewisInspired by the innocent people around the globe who are left to fight tyranny and ethnic cleansing aloneabandoned, or so it would seem, to their unjustifiable fate.
The Politician
What’s it like inside that head?
Do you find slumber in your bed?
While soldiers fight to save your cause,
When, in fact the battle’s yours,
Making plans to change the world,
For truth and justice we are told,
And hiding well within the lies,
You deem your actions justified,
I cannot understand your mind,
Your soul is dark; your eyes are blind,
The ones who cry out for your help,
Are left to starve, their pain unfelt,
The wars that rage around the globe,
Are picked by a deceptive code,
For wealth and power seem to be,
The only reason I can see,
So when you’re sleeping in your bed,
I wonder should you dream instead,
Of those who struggle to survive,
Thankful just to be alive...
