A celebration of my husband's 40th birthday!

 

A Wonderful Day

 

Once again the rain comes down,

And drop-like crystals wash the ground,

The grass and flowers breathe a sigh,

Relief at last from times gone by,

 

The air is fresh, the smell divine,

A captured moment held in time,

And though the sky is silver grey,

My thoughts return to Saturday,

 

The day was warm and filled with glee,

A party fit for thee and me,

Our laughter lingered into the night,

Smiles aglow in the candlelight,

 

The music played enticing our feet,

Tapping and swaying we followed the beat,

And though it's now but a memory,

For heart and mind it will always be,

 

My thanks to those who shared this day,

Friends and family, all who stayed,

And thinking back I'm glad to find,

The greatest gift you gave was time.

I reread this..and reread. You take me there, with all the people you surround yourself with. You are a "Lady" of such grace and class, I know your friends reflect the things you love. How in the heck did I ever get to be your friend?? hee hee.

I am not the best judge of poetry but I have to say what you have written here fits my idea of what a poem should be. It is obviously a happy poem and there is certainly nothing wrong with that! Good job.
