Pothole Dodging

Pothole Dodging

A Poem by PolarPaddy
"

Our roads and streets are pockmarked with potholes after the winter’s damage from all the freezing and thawing, making them look like moon craters.

"

It's pothole dodging season all over again,

The thaw time between snow and the rain.

When motorists do the pothole dance,

As around the hazards they hastily prance.

Pothole dodging while driving on the roads,

And making sudden, hasty evasive moves.

Pothole dodging has us steering totally distracted,

Just like in a sports rally, driving is erratic.

Pothole dodging and keeping the wheels a rolling,

Running the gauntlet and praying not to fall in.

Pothole dodging to all autos, they do inflict a costly toll on,

Rims; shocks, and components such as the transmission.

A driver cannot change lanes safely, just too much traffic,

Because potholes are far too many, and difficult to shirk.

The swerving and avoidance can make a driver feel seasick.

Pothole dodging is the perennial seasonal road pandemic.
