An Ode to My Family

A little ditty, short and simple about my family.

Alive today, along with my brother and sisters, we make four.

In life, Dad and Mom knew of poverty, hardships, even much more,

Five members have already passed through heaven’s golden gate.

A brother and sister died in infancy, back then from a childhood fate,

Another sister passed of old age and critical illness, in her life so late.

When our time comes, reunited we will be, in peace, beyond heaven’s gate.

 

Author's Note

Life by its essence is a continuum and cyclic. Events happen in families that might never be resolved before a loved one passes away. This is my attempt to bridge such a cavern withing my own family, so the deceased can be at peace and the living can have harmony. Thank you for reading my work.
