The frigid air of the cool October night grasped at his throat and numbed his hands. A cities rhythm pumping through out the veins of the streets. The background in the ghetto that night was accompanied by people asking for money, people speeding by, and people jeering and hollering. In the midst of it all a parking lot that was quietly tucked behind an apartment complex and two figures that stood in the middle. A boy and a girl whom appeared to be on the brink of ending their short spanned relationship. His lie had snowballed and as hard as they searched for resolve it would not show itself.
He cursed his fate and shouted obscenities at the world. He had loved her so much that he had destroyed that which he held most dear to him. He threw his arms up and dared her to fulfill the inevitable. Neither had the courage to walk away and so there they stood in a stalemate. He stood at the cruel mercy of his emotions which materialized into tears as the memories of her rushed through his mind because she was to be just that, a memory. Time sat still for a moment and he lost himself in her eyes as he remembered the first time he'd seen her. A short girl with a pasty figure and brown hair that often violated her mouth due to its length. He sat in the yard watching the peculiar girl who chased her dogs up and down the street only for the dogs to evade her for the process to repeat itself. He had been too afraid to talk to her so was introduced through a friend. No dogs for her to corral this time only the memories which had hit him like a bricks. He again foresaw the agonizing pain that was sure to present itself. He embraced her and held her close vowing to make the wrongs right. pressing her tightly against him, his emotions bested him as the memories ran through him yet again. The frail boy replayed all the time they had spent together. He recalled all the hardships he'd endured with her by his side and couldn't imagine not having her there to help him pull through. That night he had temporarily fixed things but, his frustration allowed him to finally fulfill the inevitable As he predicted their time together came to a halt. Without result the boy tried a few more times to make things how they once had been, but she had outgrown him. He cried in vain at times because regret gnawed at him and refused to let him sleep. The circles under his eyes grew darker and the days turned to months. Rambling through other jigsaws he found none fit. In the arms of other women he learned pain would not follow. The boy knew this however was hopeless and without avail, because he had lost his other half. © 2010 AjAuthor's Note
