At last I'm a SeniorA Story by AjA bit short, an essay that I wrote for English
At Last, I’m a senior
Twelve years of arduous schooling I’ve endured with only three months of respite in between. Scholars would argue that so much time spent in a classroom obliterates any spark of creativity. This however has not been the case with me. As I near the end of my basic education, I look back at the beginning of the year with disbelief of how fast it came and went.
My sophomore year I squandered away ditching nearly every day. When I first arrived at basic I knew I wouldn’t be learning much. It was all work and no play and no work, which I would regret my senior year. Although my reckless behavior is something I will miss whether egging people at the strip or shouting obscene comments out the window.
My junior year I found myself with a clear head and became a tad bit responsible. There were still traces of my juvenile self that occasionally escaped. I rarely ditched and I began to drift apart from irresponsible influences. I had however surrounded myself with good people whose academic record ignited envy and forced me to elevate my thinking and strive to better myself.
When I started my senior year I vowed to surpass by friends academically. I could sate my hunger for knowledge but algebra threatened to stifle my success. Since I strayed away from all distractions the school year had become uneventful. This is somewhat good because it leaves my priorities and my judgment unclouded.
The future is running straight at me and I refuse to get out of the way. I was scared in the beginning of the year because I realized that my childhood is coming to a close and all I can do is accept it and wave goodbye.
