A Foolish Love

A Foolish Love

A Poem by Ela
"

A young girl falls in love with a jerk...some true and some dramatized...particularly the last last line

"

How come...?

You make my heart beat a million times per second

And force me to blush as red as a sunset

And yet...?

You pull me away without realizing it

You refuse to be my friend, or even be seen with me

Why are you doing this...?

Your friends will laugh

They will not understand my feelings

Are you afraid...?

You are ashamed of me

I am a female, you are a male

But are we really that different...?

I came to see you when you were lonely

You ignored me and kept on staring at the ceiling

Why am I so nervous..?

I told you I brought some food and stuff to do

You turned your head to me and said 'Whatever'

Whatever...?

Infuriated and embarrassed, I ran out the door

Feeling foolish, I was forced to conceal my feelings

How could I be so stupid as to fall in love with a jerk...?

I ran to the sea, and I wanted to jump

To live there forever, never come back

Who is there...?

But then, I saw you

Another male, looking as smirky as you do

Why are you here...?

I expected him to walk away from me

Instead, he asked me 'What's wrong?'

Why can't I answer...?

Seeing my anxiety, he picked up a fishing rod

and tossed it to me

Why do I feel warm...?

We fished for two hours

In the never ending sea

How come...?

No longer depressed, I have made a lifelong friend

And possibly met true love

The ignoring boy is true, and so is the ending about fishing and the next guy. the friendship yes, but true love, either not yet or no. We're just friends. And yes, the ignoring guy did have ignoring friends...(grits teeth)...gotta get over him!!! LOL

I really like this poem...It reflects real love and that most love is rejected. The boy in the story, the one she fell in love with, doesn't realize she even likes him. Or maybe he does...he just doesn't want his friends to know.
