The Blue-Green

The Blue-Green

A Poem by PoetryPenPal

Sweet waves of

Deep blue-green

Dance back and forth

Under a shining sun.

I listen to the waves

Crash against the shore

And the plopping of fish

 Falling back into the sea.

I smell the salty, sweet air

And feel it caress my face

With it's hands made of

Sweet silence.

Silence.

Its so beautiful.

I dip my feet in the sea

And go under,

Dragging myself down.

I can taste the water's

Salt and feel it

Pulling me in.

I go with it,

Allowing it to

Let me taste more of it's

Sweet bitter self.

It takes my breath away,

And I let it take it.

Why?

Why did I let it take it?

Take me?

How could I be so foolish

To let myself drown?

A bad ending to the poem. The poem started hopeful. The sea and a swim then a drowning. Good description led the reader to the surprise ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing!
The beginning of this write was so serene...walking along the shoreline and smelling the salt air....feeling the water surround you. The ending, though, was monumentally dark. Drowning and not trying to save oneself. Of course, often we do not realize we have the power to save ourselves, do we? The imagery in your words is vivid. Very well written. Lydi**

"How could I be so foolish to let myself drown?" This final lines gives depth to this poem that shocks me. Knowing you to be quite young, I am surprised that you could present such depth, but it is pleasant. I very much enjoyed this poem of yours and hope to continue to see deeper work from you soon!
