Forgiveness and Benevolence

Forgiveness and Benevolence

A Poem by Poetic Solace
"

Ironically, no matter how many times he has hurt me, I've never hated him.

"

"The story is over, I love you and I understand that you stood where I stand..."

Carry on home

You're not wanted here

You caused pain already,

What more do you want?

Did you want forgiveness?

Were you looking for it?

Well, dear, too bad...

You lost your chance at that...

At least,

That's what I told myself

Don't tell me you're sorry

I've heard it enough to know

It's just a word you throw

Out of your mouth

Without meaning it

And yet,

Did I really mean it

When I told you to leave?

So, leave me

And never come back

Don't even apologize,

We both know

Those words

Are all lies...

That's what I told myself,

Until I forgave you...

Benevolence is a funny thing

And so is forgiveness

I just hope you can forgive me

I spoke words that killed me to say...

Words that inflicted pain

Words that hurt you...

I'm sorry for that

I still love you...

Ah the emotional turmoil that runs riot on our hearts in times of love and anguish, well done, good read.

Great poem! It shows a great struggle between emotions, and I'm glad that, for once, forgiveness won. Outstanding!
