Anything More

Anything More

A Poem by EquivalentExchange
"

Should we settle for what we have or seek out something more?

"

Already it's night, and I haven't gotten your full attention

I will break and build everything, until it breaks this tension

that seperates us down the center

that keeps us in this playful banter

but truth be told, I just want something more

can we please be something more?

I wanted what your love can give me

I wanted what our love could be

I want the sadness

I want the happiness

I want the good times

I want the bad times

I want the best of this

I want the worst of this

and all the rest

If this has a chance to be anything more

then speak my name

whisper it into the dark

and even if it falls short

you'll never be to blame

because even from the beginning

we had more, than I could ever hope for

your simple love, is all, I could ever hope for

This desire builds to the breaking point

and though I can appreciate

the things that you've been giving me

but sometimes the question escapes

these lips, that long for you

will you ever be able to see?

that I just want a little more

could we ever be anything more?

I could leave my heart upon your hand

and know that you'd be true

with all the things you've given me

I know, I could never repay you

and through every broken shard of glass

I know that you'll stay true

could I ever ask, for anything more?
