Your Heart is A Ship

Your Heart is A Ship

A Poem by EquivalentExchange

If I had any other sort of heart

It wouldn't have to be this way

But it's become so brittle, from the breaking

(from the taking)

That no amount of empty words

Can fill it with love again

(love again)

If you were any other sort of girl

You wouldn't have to lie

(to feel okay)

I gave it all up in hope

That you might change

(you might change)

But you just up and dropped my heart again

(my fragile heart)

Is this how it feels?

To be an angel

When you close your eyes at night

(do you regret anything?)

I loved everything we had

(all that love)

But you could never part with your secrets

(that you hold so dear)

Even after, I gave all of mine to you

(every single one)

How does it feel to hear these words?

Would it hurt less

(if I just let it die?)

It would've hurt a lot less

(if you didn't tell those lies)

I still love you to this day

(every single day)

And you love him more than you can say

(could you even say a thing?)

How ironic that your heart is a ship

Sailing sea to sea

And mine is a submarine

diving deeper every wek

Oh how odd that you are in my dreams

(every single night)

How odd that his hand, fits into yours

(just right)
