Setting me free

Setting me free

A Poem by Lynn Higgs

Setting me free
Unlocking the cage
Was just the beginning
Of his kindness
As He came in the cell
To pull me out
Cover in chains
Could not move
All the past

Hiding the person I was inside
Slowly unwrapping the chains
That winded around my body
He started breaking them apart
Giving me his full attention
Trying his best to not hurt me
More than was necessary
As I try to move
Muscles tone was gone
Fear had set in
Could not stand on my legs
He held me up
And taught me how to walk again
But I had no direction
So He grabbed my hand with one hand
While holding a lantern with the other
Lighting the path we were going
Slowly guiding me back
To the place I belong
In his domain, his kingdom, his arms of protection
There he show me who I was
While loving me through my tears
Giving me back my courage
Helping me to grow again in Strength
My Knight in shining armor
Came and rescue me from the gallows
Brought me home
Heal me with love
Taught me how to live
And release me to show others
How his love is the Love
That will calm the fears
Stop the winds
Make the ocean smooth
So they can live with
His joy, His purpose, His way
MY Saviour MY God
Is the only true one that
Can set anyone free
The work is not finish
As he continues to show me
The last of my chains he is breaking
That stops me from living
Because his purpose is
To set us totally free
