The silent one

The silent one

A Poem by Lynn Higgs

The silent ones
Current mood:   creative
Category: Romance and Relationships

We sit there at the games

listening to all the hassles

even stand up for others

 never standing for ourselves

 going around in our heads

How we have terror to return to

our homes not homes of warmth

 but danger for us

 we watch everyone else

 are they living like us

is it true none will believe

some of us say nothing at all

 while others talk louder

maybe hoping to cover the disgrace

Of not see us for who we are

keeping the secrets of what we are living in

a war  where we don't defend

who we are

listening to how we should feel

 what it is we are

then when we are not looking

out of nowhere

 here it comes brace yourself

 the darkness is coming

and if you keep your eyes close

you won't have to think of what

it is you're allowing to happen

all in the name of love

the right to be look at as honorable

do it for the kids sakes

 they need not know

what mommy going through

 besides it n0t their fault

if you leave what will happen

no stay silent don't tell anyone

what he has done now

or even tell them what he says

who knows maybe he will stop

 maybe you will stop living

then everything will be right with society

 when you do break away

no one wants to hear from you

 stay silent

they don't want to hear from you

 what is wrong with you

why would you leave such a great person

when you tell them they get quiet

just stay away

say when are you going to get over it

like a scar on your soul is

Not something that just goes away

 then they ask

you mean you still not together

 did they hear me

or did I imagine I told them of the hell

of the nights where I just cry quietly

how I had no right to feel

any of these emotions

this was what he wanted it didn't matter

how I felt or what I wanted

 only his needs

and besides this was the way of the world

The way of the world

the way of the world

Just keep silent and maybe they won't know

or will ever have to know

the horrors of tearing down of one's spirit

and if you do tell them

 they will soon forget

the way of the world will continue

 cause others such pain

Just stay silent about this one thing

it is not a big deal really

maybe you two will be able to pretend

it never happen

all your fault for everything

then you will let them back in

Causing all the healing to cease

the process of destroying your spirit

and tearing you down to continue

However that will never happen

 they may silence us

they may push us to  never revealed the pain

we will never forget the pain

the thoughts or feelings of not being

worth the same as everyone else

may be silence

won't ever go back to that

found the sunshine

found the truth

found the light

know we are strong

 we are the beautiful creatures

the ones giving love and understanding

the precious treasures we always knew we were
