Broken Warrior

Broken Warrior

A Poem by Lynn Higgs

A poem about feeling defeated

Broken Warrior
How many more arrows
Will it take before the spirit is spent
No more, fight left and nothing to shield
From the storms they created
Wait one is crying
You see them reaching out to help
Quick race to protect
the innocence, the weak, the unknowing
A  fools attempt which will cause more bleeding
From the wounds that have not heal.
Down again with hands trying to block
The attacks from those who issue hurt
Knowing you're going all the way
to the ground again
Here you lay once again
Thinking why even get up
Only to hear the cries to
battle for the good cause
You can stay on the ground
Never to be knock down again
That's when the pain is worst
Not while on the ground
But the falling
Waiting for someone to catch you
No knight in shining armor for the warrior
The ground was cold upon landing
Over time, the floor becomes warm from your body
You will never have to feel like
Everything is crashing around you
As it can only land, where you are
If you don't rise they may not see you
They may not attack
Than you would be safe
The aches, Soreness of the verbal slashes
Don't compare with the pain the words and actions
As they Are tearing open the newly heal wounds.
Noooooooooo
what is that stirring
Deep inside that  feeling of new energy
The very spirit you are trying to hide
It does not understand
Shhhhh
Don't stand up!!be quiet
It's moving again Someone is getting slam
Someone needs help
Only the spirit to protect can act
Warrior spirit for justice
Dragging itself off the floor
No time to heal From the last attack
Why must it always try to right the wrong
No reasoning with the one hurting
They see the warrior coming
Weak in it stance enemy rubs it hands
Standing alone the warrior heads full force
Enemy has no problem knocking it down
One day maybe the warrior wont get up
One day maybe the warrior will learn be quiet
One day maybe the warrior will just accept
But not today
Today it fights
Today it rises
Today it moves to right the wrong
At least level the field
The battle for Righteousness
It will stand all alone
Alternatively, it will stand with many
None will ever understand unless
They are a warrior to
Well of energy not dry yet
Therefore, the warrior will battle
Till there's nothing left of them
Until the good fight is won
Yet just a little time a little peace
Maybe a little understanding
From anyone to help the warrior stand
Maybe it will heal enough
To believe in itself win another battle
For the weak, the innocence, the unknowing
or maybe just to win the battle for their selves
As they are becoming the weak
The masses who forgot
What true love is
Or what is good
Will not be reminding anymore
By the warrior who saw it was not about
What each of them could get
But about what each of us could give
The warrior may not get up to battle again
Who will remind us then
Of what the righteous path is
And who will protect
the weak, the innocence, the unknowing
Always a new warrior arises
How long before it will become
Weary from battling
the constant injustices
And in its despaired just stay down
Be quiet and assimilate to the world

I'm not sure if a warrior would use "noooo" or "shhhh".
