Seeking a way out

Seeking a way out

A Poem by Lynn Higgs

Seeking the way out

Sometimes in the darkness there is no light

Grabbed to see where you are going

Striving not to bump into things

Avoiding causing more pain that created the darkness

In the midst of the escape more pain is created

Darkness becomes darker

Still you seek the way out

Keep moving hoping everything will stop

And you will excel right past

Into the light

Going to shrinks

Looking for the reasons

They pulled out the worst

Handing it to you

Asking what part did you play

Wondering why you came if it is your fault

How could pain from childhood be held against you

Then you realized the shrink is a shrink

Not the one to shine the light for the escape

In search again

Knowing the doctor you need

Price is too high

You search for ways to cope

Ways to survive

In hope one day

You will find the money resources

To pay for experienced

To buy the light

Someone who knows how

You can achieve your escape

All the time also

not giving up

Cause to give up means to die

You cannot die

You cannot give in now

Have to keep searching

Looking for the way out

Whether with the help

Or by yourself

Journey is always by yourself

Finding the self in the middle of all the yuck

Yuck place all around

To protect from the darkness

Now has become the fortress

To keep out the light

Things objects perceptions

forging a false sense of safety

Blinded the path of  the escape

Escaping the pain, The fear, The hopelessness

They sought to implant

the prison walls of the war

generate a long  time ago in you

By those who needed to feel power

Because of their own war inside of them

They sought an escape in another way

By creating darkness for others

You seek a way out

Not to bring more prisoners in

But to find the true path

lead to genuine freedom from

The darkness impinge upon the souls

Of all those who suffered

The pain

blockages in their hearts and minds

Seeking the way out to find

Not the promise land but just the land of the living

Where the darkness resides contained

Allowing us to walk in the light

With the strength of seeing

How to overcome the pain

Impose on us in childhood
