Sitting at GraNDMOM'S kITCHEN TABLE

Sitting at GraNDMOM'S kITCHEN TABLE

A Poem by Lynn Higgs

Sitting at Grandmom’s Kitchen table

Learn lots sitting next to my grandmother

Listening to her stories of adventure

Watching as her eyes lit up

Whenever someone was revealing their better side

Hearing her voice through the chaos

Knowing I was safe to be me

 Because she was watching

Feeling her kindness as a child

Washed over me like an ocean wave

wiping the pain away

Waiting in between the Birthdays and summer

Just to be at the kitchen table again

Knowing I was loved by someone

I was cared for by someone

I was free to be me

Hearing the stories of her life

 Seeing the love she displayed

Feeling the kindness wrapped around my spirit

sat  while she cook,  comforted and loved her family

Learning how to love while living life
