Lasting AffectionsA Poem by Poetic LicenseWherever your feet have traveled, Always know that my heart has sojourned also, You have never spent a night alone, That your name has not been upon my lips. Dearest friend, miles are too long Between love and finding and loss and losing, How I would change the shape of this world, If I could but find a lever long enough. You have moved on through your life, And I am noble enough to let you do so without me, No shadow to fall upon your shoulder, No silent shape slipping along the perimeter of your happiness. I think of you more often that entirely necessary, I dream of you incessantly, I wake to a deeper sense of loss and missing, For one I as yet hold dear. Simply know this, dearest one, That you are held as closely as ever, Within a heart that has never learned to let go, In adoration and deepest affection. Should your thoughts ever turn to me, I pray they will be gentle and recall all our laughter, That even despite time and miles, We may both still share a hidden smile. © 2018 Poetic LicenseReviews
