I Call the DarknessA Poem by Poetic LicenseA gray witch's Samhain offering.I call the Darkness
I call the darkness To purge false light from within This stubborn, forlorn, death sentence.
I call the darkness, To scour clean the remnants Of all I believe I should have been.
I call the darkness, To teach me the gray, To interpret the length and depth of shadow.
I call the darkness, To walk with me through quiet, close forest, To show me the killing herbs that grow beside the healing.
I call the darkness, To enlighten a spirit so long closed, To possibility of pure fulfillment found in acceptance.
I call the darkness, To attend me these long hours, As I let loose my grasp on pages turned to dust and grasp for living truth.
I call the darkness, I bid her balance my whole being, Temper the heat, embolden the spirit.
I call the darkness, To fold the metal of mind to a fine and hardened blade, Hone discernment to see beyond blinding light.
I call the darkness, And bid she engage in me that which has slept overlong, That which I have so long denied in deference to polite company.
I call the darkness, Teach me to embrace the light and dark of me, To hide nothing from myself and finally know wholeness.
I call the darkness, Reveal my depths to my own shuttered eyes, Remain near to steady my trembling heart at all I may see. © 2017 Poetic LicenseReviews
