Flesh of my Flesh

A poem for my first unborn child...

Your birth will signify

The change from a couple to a family.

You are my blessing from above...

Everything I've silently prayed for,

Only expected to happen in the future,

But I wouldn't change a thing...

I dream of you when I sleep,

And I awake to the thoughts

Of your face; what will you look like?

What will you be like?

These are thoughts continually

Entwining in my heart and mind,

Your soul will forever be a part of me

As I carry you along for this journey.

Nine months is a long time,

Nine months is a short time,

You'll be here in no time

And I will be there...

To hold you and comfort you,

To teach you, to watch you grow,

But most importantly to Love you....
