Even though our time together has come and gone there is always something that pulls me back to you...

Ex-Like Behavior


I am unsure

That it is ex-like behavior

When you take me by the hand

And lead me to your bedroom

Where you embrace me tenderly

And hold me very close

Just like you use to�



It's very unlikely

Ex-like behavior when you

Brush your lips along my neck

Knowing that's my favorite spot.

I hate that my knees buckle

As I feel your tongue run up my neck�



It's definitely not

Ex-like behavior when

You slip all of my clothes off

And you begin touching me

In places that should be hidden

By polyester and cotton�



I start to cry

As I lay there in your arms, our naked

Bodies tangled up in twisted sheets.

You kiss the nape of my neck and I wonder

Why this ever had to become

Ex-like behavior�

Author's Note

I felt as if i was over my Ex but once i look into his eyes and feel his touch I forget why we ever broke up in the first place..He still has a piece of my heart so it is hard for me to just move on..maybe one day...

Wow, the emotion in this piece is very prevelant.
Difficult to get over someone with moments like this going on.... !

The title is brilliant, and the piece itself is extremely well done! It flows beautifully,
and its content brings up feelings of missing someone and then the bliss of a moment
of reunion.... old passion revisited.

Perhaps this person shouldn't be your ex? Just a thought.

Reminds me of my ex, how we can spend months without seeing each other and out of the blue she'll call me or message me. Then all those old emotions come flooding back into me. Poems such as yours remind me that where love dwells or once dwelled, there is nothing simple.

damn damn damn, this is real.. u needed this one, i was on both sides once...
you cant help who you love, and it especially sucks when the relationship has ended, but the LOVE hasnt end...in my opinion, the love never ends. I find it easier to be able to say " i will always love my ex, but we will never be together again." i think "getting over" someone doesnt mean you have to stop loving them, you only make it harder, the love will lock itself in a bottle, and throw itself into an ocean over time. The love isnt dead, but its no longer in your hands... the relationship is what we should focus on getting over, not the love. And of course the "ex-like behavior" is like letting that bottle float back to shore, and you opening it back up... maybe you threw your bottle into a lake... it you can see to the other side if the lake, then throwing it in would serve no purpose cause you know the chance of it coming back is high... I dare you to throw it in the ocean... the love is still alive, just not "there"

Sweetheart... i know exactly where this piece leads. Going through a break up that still leaves the door open is hard. Those next encounters often lead to situations like this where you KNOW you shouldn't be enjoying the passion or even allowing it to happen but the ease and familiarity of it just pulls you back in. It is hard to get over a GREAT lover regardless of how the relationship ended and this poem beautifully and simply explores that.
