DisguiseA Story by PoeticMe143Rain- best disguise for crying
The sky is dark, almost black. Rain is falling hard as Faith sits in an empty basketball court. The court has a fence circled around it with basketball goals at each end. The one on the far right, the one that’s missing a rim soaks with rain just like faith. She’s sitting in the very middle with her arms wrapped around her legs and her head down. Soon she begins to here something different then the drop of rain. She begins to hear something a lot heavier smacking down on the water, but she doesn’t look up. She couldn’t careless if she was in danger.
The smacking gets closer and closer then it stops. Faith isn’t even tempted to look up, because at this moment she just doesn’t care about anything. “Faith.” Someone says. They say it like a question, like is that really you. Still not looking up she makes a slight sound of approval that it’s her. “Faith come on get up. It’s raining really hard.” The person says. The voice comes from her best friend Jaden. Faith looks up with red eyes. “Rain’s the best disguise.” Faith says. Jaden kneels down facing her. “For what?” Jaden asks. “For crying.” She replies. “Faith, I know no matter what I say you’ll always cry. No matter how many times you laugh, you’ll cry more. Just remember that tears sometimes don’t heal what you cry for.” He says. Faith looks down and just like the sky water falls from her eyes. “We used to play here all the time. Don’t act like you don’t remember, don’t you dare try to forget! Right there at the goal. We used to play around the world and she’d always win.” Faith says pointing to the goal with the missing rim. Jaden begins to feel tears coming, but he shoves them back. He’d have to be the strong one at this moment. “I don’t forget. In fact those memories make it easier to cope.” Jaden is cut off. “How? How can they do that? Memories only make it worst. Remembering someone that can no longer be here to remember with you. To laugh and say remember when.” Faith says. “Faith, I.” Jaden is cut off once more. “No! No! Just shut up and go. You always say I understand. You were her friend. You only lost a friend! I’m her sister. I lost my other half.” Faith says and cries so hard that the rain was now not that much of a disguise. Jaden stands up. “Fine then, I’ll go!” Jaden yells as the rain some how finds a way to fall harder then before. “When she died, we all cried, family or friend. Like I said remember that tears sometimes don’t heal what you cry for.” Jaden says and begins to walk away. “They may not heal or even help, but they’re all I can do now!” Faith yells after Jaden who is walking out of the court. Thunder roars like millions of warriors crying out before battle, and the rain continues to fall as Faith continues to sit. © 2013 PoeticMe143Author's Note
