Worth to Keep

Worth to Keep

A Poem by Vincent Cuccolo

When every voice scolded you to the ground,

I was there to lift you away.

When all darkness robbed your light,

I was there to show you the way.

When every teardrop made an ocean,

I was there to throw you a line.

When all you loved slipped from your very hand,

I was there to make you mine.

When every doubt pierced through your skin,

I was there to be your shield.

When all your monsters came to life,

I was there to make them yield.

When every dream became a nightmare,

I was there to lull you to sleep.

When all those who ignored your value,

I saw something worth to keep.

This is a satisfying read, a couplet of much quality and each one a gem in their own right.
