FearA Poem by Vincent CuccoloFear. It’s everywhere I look--- In my mind, Body, And soul. An unwelcomed entity, Slowly breaking me until I am no more; Hijacked of my will, Raped of all of my hope; A mere puppet, A helpless slave, Forever whipped, Always reigned upon.
Fear. It’s uncaring--- A heartless creature that desolates every corner of this world. With eyes All-seeing, All-consuming; Why do we run, if we don’t stand a chance? Why do we fight it, only to wait for it to come right back? Fear? Fear is immortal, Greater than Time itself.
Fear. It’s all too familiar, all too close--- A recurring nightmare, The shadow that’s always behind me; Just close in on me, Make me yours, And let us be done…
Fear. It’s what I’ve become--- This marred face is not my own, These shaking hands aren’t mine to hold, These blood-shot eyes aren’t mine to see, This ice-boxed heart isn’t mine to feel, This shattered life isn't mine to live, No, This can’t be real…
