Dark Consequence

Dark Consequence

A Poem by Vincent Cuccolo

Perceptions prison me

These bars hold no sympathy

But only discord

I am where you decide I should be

So set the stage where you want me

The coat of arrogance is snug

On my naked, lesser body

One size fits all

A fitted despair

I am what you brand me with

I’m ugly because I’m different

Hideous because I stand out

I’m a convict because I confide in a man

And crave the scent of his cologne

I am the portrait you paint me as

I’m the err of this world

The blemish on humanity’s face

A broken mirror of society

When we’re all as equally to blame

I am your dark consequence

I am the black swan
