Spoken Lime-Light Underground

Spoken Lime-Light Underground

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

I wanted to

had planned to

laptop languid

having my Timbuk2  over

my shoulders - hanging

arriving at the otherside

cafe scented conversations in mocha

machinations of motor- mouths

drab colored dressed

I readied to read tonight,

activate communions in nets to retrieve

high definition digital conceits

i placed in my space

i planned to open mic's miseries

and map mysteries

my poetry at "say what?!"

my personal weaving,

conceding to the country of your heart

defeating my views of normalcy

exciting me

but scared to release

minus me...

ironic that this beauty

vocalized to audiences that consider

who crowd for art

yet who perform are equine

equate the form

this spoken lime-light underground

to comedians from india

perforcing a voice

stereotyped / maginfied / laughed at

not with

my integrity of trees

recycled recipes of rote

spoken into microphones

feeding back

my illness weakens walls

nerves over-power me

leave the otherside

my treasure inked on machete

keep inside

midnight is rising over my light

worse to share

my enjoyment of becoming

defiled...

Wow. I absolutely love the style, the stripped-down feel to this... I love the word play. Great. Really great!
Definitely a favorite piece that I have read on writerscafe.
