Flightless Birds II

Flightless Birds II

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

II.

A box is not a home
A home lovingly
Warm
Wonderful

(Take three beans
Mark each a color with sharpies.
Place in a box
See which jumps higher.)

Use a ruler tape measure
If you chose
Feet or metric
Distance
Or loss...

You’re an albatross
Magics has always been
Here all along
Aloft
Dreaming

Stones loving the moss.
Skipping
Leaping

A home is not a box.

Life is a world / Spherical in shape
The heart is open no sides to take
Home is love
The miracles we make
We light the world
We are flightless bird
Riding the wake...
