Xmas of Insects

Xmas of Insects

A Poem by Butch Decatoria

X-Mas of Insects

Nearer to the deadline

day of reckoning      counting gifts

to match receipts - finds

defeat damnably deafening

in ribbons and needless things adrift

a sea of wrappings    under the gaudy tree

toys will be forgot

in a day or three (a child's quick light)

minutes memorable with smiles

snap shot and pasted

faces surprised in glee

the closer to his birthday of recent drought

remembered by shopping

store after store to mega-mall

caught

in cyclones, in hurried cropping

this, that, there

the glitter of a sale in the air

a family's list of love reflects

the busy

business of x-masses of insects...

The reckoning indeed. Glad I stopped in. Well said. Not sure about the extra s in Xmasses. In a way, it works, if you intended to emphasize the excess of the masses.:)
