My Hollow World

My Hollow World

A Poem by Jack Cassidy
"

Not fond of giving a description at the moment...

"
What's there to learn when you've seen behind the curtain?
You've caught a glimpse of the actors/actresses,
practiced their rituals,
worn out your designer jeans,
that ultimately transformed them into vintage.
There needn't be a love that's just right,
I've been pleased by many,
selfishly and unselfishly I deeply penetrated their hearts.
I've torn down traffic signs due to apathy,
for months pedestrians played in the streets,
automobiles sped and totaled each other.
Last night I told someone I loved them,
later I fucked them,
then I disappeared from view.
I've obeyed when it was necessary,
and broken laws when no one was watching,
but each choice was nothing more.

I like this piece a lot K.
There's so much honesty in the voice of the speaker. (you?)
That you labeled these as choices not decisions is telling in itself.
Decisions are made after careful thought, risk and impact assessment.
Choices are generally made spontaneously without thinking.
You're admitting your lack of judgment in a sense ( or maybe not YOU, the speaker of the poem, you are perfect of course... )
I also notice that there's no remorse here. :)
But your " descriptor" beneath the title could be read as remorse or acknowledgement of wrong.
I liked this for it's honesty and it's maybe my fave from you.

Very honest piece. There is no hesitation here. I think these kind of pieces are the best. I love how blunt this piece is as well, especially the second of last stanza! Very well done :)
