"Open Eyes"

"Open Eyes"

A Poem by Night

How swift the river runs and it's song speaks of life

It's beauty like a dream

 shining so bright.

How majestic is the eagle that soars high above the earth

like the smile of proud parents

 as they witness new birth.

How awesome are the stars and its beauty is its light

like the warmth of a woman

on a cold and lonely night.

Tell me have you looked but really haven't seen

the beauty of this world

 caught in your routine.

How soon the days go by and older still we get

but a life lived with open eyes

is one with no regret.

How swift the river runs.

Joy is in the heart of those who see...

This is truly lovely. It's like 'wake up and smell the coffee' people! It's a very poignant piece of writing, simple in it's content but powerful in it's delivery. I especially love the third stanza. Flawless. Kudos.

"How soon the days go by and older still we get
but a life lived with open eyes
is one with no regret." Such pure and simple truth penned in these words. The River runs much faster at times then we would like it to.

You have a very positive way at looking at the world, or that is what I felt was conveyed through the poetry :)

...thank you.:)
It really is the little things we take for granted. Open your eyes and just...look at the beauty in your life. Never mind that crumbling concrete facade...look beyond that garbage strewn street...see the beauty. And appreciate it. Truly inspiring piece, Night. Thank you for sharing it with us.

The brevity of life is with us always and seems to grow as we get older. I think the ability of the poet was given to us to remind us of that beauty on the earth as well as that beauty of the universe. With his ability he creates an urgency in his reader to slow down an notice these God given things.......In this poem this poet has done just that......Great poem.....Thanks for sharing.
