AbelA Poem by PoetQIt's about the death of Abel from the story of Cain and Abel. It kind of goes hand in hand with my other poem Cain.Where did I go wrong? I never warranted this. I lay still as the earth consumes me. I recall no pose of threat. I lived as asked and gratefully so. The heavens never failed me. Nor have I ever questioned them. Why have I been glorified and envied by peers? I wish for nothing but the best, And do nothing, but what is asked, Why does spite ring in the distance? My good heart is pure, My conscience is clear, And I go where I am destined. Though red rivers flow from me, I’d never imagine that, What one can do for themselves, Could cause the death of someone else. Acceptance is only mental. © 2016 PoetQAuthor's Note
