CainA Poem by PoetQIt's about the story of Cain and Abel from the bible but more of a perspective stance from Cain himself and what led to his actions and his feelings afterwards. Why have the heavens decided to frown upon me? I look around and see glorious eyes in others, who’ve somehow grasped the idea of happiness, or found riches in their talent, that I question. I sacrifice my time and life, Yet feel no reward, No joy. Just envy and jealousy, Corrupt my good heart. But still I strive, In hopes of a reciprocation of efforts, That form from spite, But good intentioned. Why does the heaven still overlook me? But smile radiant smiles of sunlight on my people, While anger simmers inside of me, Hatred begins to form clouds, Only death will clear the mist. Why does the heaven reap rain with lost? I feel scorned by my own, I feel isolation on the horizon, Why do the heavens not accept me? Maybe because I don’t appreciate myself. © 2016 PoetQAuthor's Note
