Twinkle

Twinkle

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Twinkle

“Twinkle, twinkle”

Said the brightest star.

Showing the way.

They journeyed far.

The angel, Gabriel

Told of the Christ child indeed.

Rejoicing, they set out

To see the new baby.

The promise fulfilled,

The King of heaven born to mankind.

Though His eyes closed in slumber,

He saw everything from on high.

Peace was with Him,

As the Father’s heart beat in His chest.

The spring of living water

Is for a time at rest.

Jesus breathed

The same air as our sinful nature.

His extraordinary life

Beginning in a lowly manger.

“Twinkle, twinkle”

Says the soul whom Christ saves

Risen to eternal life

From the lowly grave.
