The Fisherman's Bounty

The Fisherman's Bounty

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Fisherman’s Bounty

Casting the net,
he pulled in the bounty of fish.

Happy was he
for what he accomplished.

Taking them home,
he cleaned them, making each ready.

Then, throwing a party,
inviting all to feast.

Many dined and rejoiced
over their stomachs full and round.

Dancing and singing
With new friends found.

The fisherman later
lay in bed contemplating a time long ago.

Yet the story still resonated
with hearts… with souls.

The man slept soundly,

Knowing that someday he’ll be

invited to dine with the King,
having been washed clean.

The next morning
he wholeheartedly vowed to go all in.

Allowing God to use him
as a catcher of men.

The fisherman’s bounty would soon

Rejoice in the Presence of the Lord of all.

Dancing and singing
to Jesus who came to call.

Yes, Jesus encouraged his disciples to fish for men. On the shores of Galilee, he was a well known speaker; and would have drawn some huge crowds. In this piece, you have made fishing seem like a joyous experience; with people helping one another. By their happy feasting on those moist tasty fish, and pride at the success of their bountiful catch.? At the end, their merriment is enough to bring about singing and dancing; as they also remember to rejoice consciously in the Lord's presence. Thankyou, for this uplifting poem in verses. Do take care, each and every day...
