The Shadow on the Wall

 

My close friend,

When I need a listening ear.

A soft place

Forever near.

 

You catch me

Ev’ry time I fall.

Closer like no other--

Closer than the shadow on the wall.

 

For You are here,

Dwelling in my innermost part.

Whispers of Your love

Speaking to my heart.

 

Light shining into the dark,

You rid my ev’ry fear, one and all,

Diminishing for all time

The shadow on the wall.

 

For the shadow is my former self

Is now being filled with Your glorious light.

The Holy Spirit now lives in me,

Ever carrying my prayers to Your might.

 

Help me, Lord,

To be ever attentive to Your call

As Your light banishes

The shadow on the wall.
